So let’s face it, 2015 has not been the year of consistent blogging for Something Beautiful.  We’ve been pulled in all sorts of different directions over the past few months but we are resolving to be a better blog in 2016!  And to that end we are wrapping up this year with some lovely boho inspiration for you YEG brides!

The beautiful and talented Lyndsay Greenwood contacted me a few months back with an idea for a styled shoot.  Together we bounced what felt like hundreds of ideas off each other until we finally ended up with a styled shoot that brought together a rich bohemian colour palette, splashes of vintage elements and a touch of 1920’s gypsy soul.  The result was a fun and beautiful shoot that showcased our gorgeous real life couple, Jeff and Lauren, against a neutral backdrop featuring pops of deep reds, purples and turquoise.

Edmonton Wedding Invitations

Kelly from Lovesky Design created a postcard style invitation for our shoot utilizing kraft paper, which can sometimes be overlooked but we love for showcasing bold fonts and unique logos!

Edmonton Wedding Head Table

The table was brought to life with a carefully curated collection of milk glass vases, gold bottles and blue glass containers used to hold single blooms in various shades of red and purple.  Two larger milk glass vases showcased larger arrangements in the same hues.  Deep burgundy tapered candles brought another element to the design and really popped in various gold and brass candlestick holders.

Edmonton Wedding Place Setting

Our place setting is a unique set sourced from vintage collections by our lovely photographer Lyndsay.  We balanced out the two patterns by using a dark grey toned charger and pale blue napkin from Special Event Rentals.  Our burlap linen was also sourced from Special Event Rentals and was the perfect base to make our lace overlay pop.

Edmonton Wedding Centerpiece

In addition to the flower arrangements and single blooms on the table, Best Buds Flower Co did an outstanding job at dressing up the star of our table.  Meet Alberto, the hardest working skull in show business!  Antlers are a huge trend right now in the wedding scene and we wanted to go one step further, luckily a relative of Lyndsay’s had Alberto up for adoption.  🙂  By using various greens and flowers the girls at the shop really did a great job incorporating him as our center focal point on the table.

Edmonton Bride and Groom

Ah our beautiful couple!  Jeff and Lauren are a real life couple who are completely in love and it really shows through the camera!

Edmonton Lace Bridal Gown

The gown Lauren is wearing is an Alvina Valenta gown, style 9407, from Delica Bridal.  It features gorgeous ivory alencon lace over a champagne lining and has a hint of shimmer underneath the lace.  Of course our favourite part of the gown is the stunning keyhole back detail shown here.

Edmonton Groom Bowtie

Jeff’s outfit is from Derks Formals.  Instead of a traditional look with a vest and jacket, we opted for a more casual look featuring patterned suspenders and a deep burgundy bow tie.

Edmonton Bridal Bouquet

We love the mixture of bright and deep tones in this bouquet, and the unexpected addition of the red berries added a fun and whimsical element to the arrangement.

Edmonton Wedding Cake

Who loves a naked cake?  Everyone, especially when it’s accented with sugar coated berries!  Rix’s Cakes and Bakes did a fantastic job showing that a minimalist cake can still have a wow factor.

Edmonton Wedding Invitation

Lauren’s jewelry is a mix of pieces from Silpada, thrift stores and Jenn and Lyndsay’s personal collections.  The mix of different turquoise tones really brought the bohemian element to the otherwise formal gown.
