I am BEYOND excited to finally share a styled shoot collaboration we worked on this past fall with Cheryl from Aeris Photography!  We have been waiting on pins and needles for the 2016 issue of Bridal Fantasy magazine to be released where we were lucky enough to be featured!  And now that the magazine is available we can gush with you over all the details!

When I sat down to dream up this design I had one element that popped into my head right away.  Lanterns.  White lanterns with flowers overflowing out of them.  (Because who wants to use anything for its intended purpose anyways?)  From that idea the rest of the design started to grow!

I tend to gravitate towards pinks as a general rule, but I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone, so for this project I was very intentional about selecting a colour palette.  I spent about an hour looking at paint swatches in Home Depot searching for a colour that jumped out at me as much as my beloved blush, rose and berry tones do.
Finally I spotted a slate blue that I loved instantly.  (side note, I saved the swatch and plan to use it when the hubs and I purchase a home.  Master bedroom accent colour perhaps?)  After trying a few different colour combos I decided on shades of purple to accent the blue.  And the rest as they say, is history!

Originally I pictured a stone cottage as our background location, sort of what I imagine a French country home to look like, which led us to The Old Stone House.  While the house definitely fit with my original vision, once I saw the old leaning barn on the property I was in love.  That beautiful rickety old structure was the perfect backdrop for our shoot!
Carolyn, the owner of The Old Stone House, was super excited about the shoot, let us have free run of her property AND she made us all dessert which she served to us fresh from the oven!  I mean, how sweet is that?

Once we had our location locked in, Cheryl and I gathered up a team of vendors that we adore.  When I explained the vision to each of them, everyone was excited and ran with the theme, producing products better than what I imagined!  Delica Bridal provided a stunning Alvina Valenta gown with a textured skirt and lace bodice, which was perfectly complimented by a classic black suit for our groom courtesy of Derks Formals.

Jen and her team at Over The Top Cakes created a three tiered cake with lace detailing to mimic the bodice of our gown and they accented it with dusty purple roses.  All created by hand!  The ladies also made lilac coloured macarons which we used on our place setting…and as a snack at the end of the shoot.  (so so yummy!)

Special Event Rentals has an extensive inventory of rental items to choose from so we were able to pull a mix of things to create our table settings.  A soft blue pintuck linen, pale lilac napkins, silver dinnerware and wooden cafe chairs were all perfect pieces to bring together for our design.

The very talented Kelly from Lovesky Design created the most beautiful pale blue stationery suite!  The menus really brought the place setting together and the invitation suite was perfection.  My favourite part is the laser cut details, it’s so pretty!

The lovely Janna and Stefanie at Behind The Blush were on hand to make sure our bride’s hair and make up was flawless and Jaymie from Lottie Da Designs provided us with a beautiful selection of jewelry and accessories to give our bride a little sparkle!

Tickled Floral was a huge part of bringing this whole design together.  Not only did Wendy execute the lanterns I had envisioned perfectly but she also created a stunning bouquet, floral wreath, boutonniere and greenery garland for the backs of our chairs.  (Which I am OBSESSED with!)
When we combined those floral elements with pillar candles in various heights and votive candles in vintage inspired holders, it really came together to give us something special.

Now we also had one more vendor on hand for the day.  Typically you don’t see videographers at styled photo shoots…because they are a photo shoot not a video shoot.
BUT this was not a typical shoot!
Our models Jeremy and Brittany are a real life couple who have been together for around five years or so.  A few weeks before the shoot I got a text from Jeremy saying that he has been thinking of proposing to Brittany soon.  He asked if I would mind if he imposed on our plans and surprised her during the shoot?
Of course I replied with an ultra enthusiastic “OF COURSE I DON’T MIND!”  I mean does it get any better than that?!  A styled shoot with awesome vendors, a beautiful location, a gorgeous couple and A PROPOSAL!
The answer is no, it does not get any better than that!
I called Matt from Integra Films and pitched an idea to him.  We would tell Brittany that Matt was there to shoot a behind the scenes look at what goes into a styled photo shoot.  But what she didn’t know is that he was also there to make sure that he got Jeremy’s surprise on video!

Now, if you know me at all you know that I am not great at secrets.  Especially if I am excited about something, it is HARD to keep a poker face!  But I dug real deep, kept it all together and am happy to report that Brittany was thoroughly surprised!

Are you just dying to see this shoot yet!?  Okay okay!  I’ll stop talking.  Without further adieu, here’s a look at our latest labour of love!
